Making Memories with Cheez-its

Nom nom nom … Cheez-its! One of my all-time favorite processed foods.

A friend once told me, “If your great-grandma wouldn’t recognize what you’re eating, you should leave it on the shelf.”

I did some research, and these tasty orange bits of heaven have been around since 1921. So there.

Have you seen the Cheese High promotion on the back of Cheez-it boxes? Pretty entertaining. Turns out, it makes a fun matching game, especially for little ones who aren’t able to master the typical 36-card Memory game.

So dig through your recycling tote and get started.

Here’s what you need:
  • Two Cheez-it boxes featuring Cheese High’s Graduating Class
  • Scissors
  • Stickers and markers (optional)
Directions:
  1. Cut out each Cheez-it variety in the same size and shape (square, circle, triangle, etc.) to make 18 cards.
  2. Decorate the back of each card with the same sticker, word or drawing.
  3. Mix the cards up and place them face down.
  4. Grab a bowl of Cheez-its and take turns trying to match the 9 sets.
The Hot & Spicy Cheez-its occupy our cupboard today. As much as I enjoy Scrabble, I just don’t care for the Cheez-its version. An expert in the food industry (my husband) explained the science behind the extrusion process. Simply put, they’re just not fluffy enough for me.

What games do you and your kids play with your food? We’d love to hear!

Until next time,
Tricia
